Clients are expressing confusion because they get a message that says "Invoice has already been paid" after they pay an invoice, despite it being the first payment on a given invoice.

Thank you for reporting this issue. I assume that your clients are seeing this message when attempting to pay invoice via the client portal. Let me know if this is not the case.
If you can include a screenshot, it would be very helpful as we have not been able to recreate this issue.
